Job Title: Mechanical Designer

Job Summary: As a Mechanical Designer, you will develop innovative solutions by understanding product requirements and creating part drawings, solid models, and bills of material. You will support design reviews, collaborate with suppliers, prototype, and test designs, demonstrating technical problem‑solving abilities. You will maintain subassemblies, apply manufacturing processes to create accurate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Process and Change Notices (PACNs), and identify continuous improvement opportunities.

• Develop solutions based on product requirements.
• Create part drawings, solid models, and bills of material.
• Support design and drawing reviews.
• Collaborate with suppliers to produce parts.
• Prototype and test designs.
• Solve technical problems effectively.
• Maintain and manage subassemblies.
• Apply manufacturing processes.
• Create accurate ECOs and PACNs.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.

• Proficiency in Solid Works.
• Experience in mechanical design and engineering change orders.
• Familiarity with injection mold design, new product development, sheet metal, and machine part design.

• Experience with injection‑molded plastic part design.
• Experience with sheet metal and machined part design.
• 3D printing experience.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Mechanical aptitude and hands‑on skills.
• Detail‑oriented, deadline‑driven, self‑directed, and organized.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to excel in a highly interactive team environment.
• Understanding of GD&T standards.

This onsite position is ideally suited for a candidate who enjoys leaving their desk to engage with the manufacturing floor for problem solving and tinkering. You will work within a collaborative team of nine individuals in a well‑equipped organization.

Contract position based out of Shakopee, MN.

Hourly pay range: $27.00 – $35.00/hr benefits for this temporary role may include medical, dental & vision, critical illness, accident, and hospital coverage, a 401(k) retirement plan, life insurance, disability coverage, a health spending account, transportation benefits, employee assistance program, and paid time off.
