Worship Leader

The Worship Leader is responsible for the development, management, and oversight of all music and programming for worship services and events at First Baptist Church of Prosper, to the glory of God. The position reports directly to the Senior Pastor.

• Embodies the Biblical qualifications of a Pastor/Elder (1 Tim. 3:1-7; Tit. 1:6-9; 1 Pet. 5:1-5)
• Holds a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a theological discipline or in a music‑related or worship‑related field OR has at least 3 years of experience effectively leading worship ministries in a local church setting
• Demonstrates familiarity with music written and published by sources such as Getty Music, Sovereign Grace Music, City Alight, Matt Boswell and Matt Papa, The Worship Initiative, Indelible Grace, and similar publishers
• Is a member and fully aligned with the priorities of First Baptist Church of Prosper and the Baptist Faith and Message 2000
• Is a spiritually mature believer with an active, evident, and maturing relationship with Jesus Christ and a thorough knowledge of the Bible
• Demonstrates a love for God’s Word and people with a sound understanding of Biblical doctrine and practice
• Lives and teaches a lifestyle that adheres to biblical standards of morality, ethics, and the fruit of the Spirit
• Displays genuine humility, teachability, and receptivity to guidance, correction, and direction
• Is willing to be a team player and work under the leadership of the Senior Pastor and Elders
• Demonstrates servant leadership
• Exhibits excellence in public communication skills
• Shows a strong work ethic, including timeliness, initiative, consistent fulfillment of responsibilities, personal responsibility for tasks, and honoring deadlines
• Has a proven track record of committed, compassionate, and effective oversight, discipleship, and shepherding of those under their care
• Has a heart for leading and teaching others concerning biblical worship
• Can start, build, organize, and manage a ministry team
• Possesses administrative skills that demonstrate the ability to organize, plan, communicate, and collaborate well
• Maintains a cross‑ministry perspective and collaborates on strategic planning and priorities
• Shares ministry with and assists volunteers, staff, pastors, and Elders and Deacons as part of a ministry team
• Has strong interpersonal skills and can relate well to others from diverse cultural and family backgrounds
• Can keep confidences and demonstrate appropriate judgment, discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality when working with others
• Pursues a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, maintaining focus on family, personal health, finances, and spiritual growth

• Plays in partnership with the Senior Pastor to plan weekly worship services and other occasional events, ensuring the worship elements communicate the Gospel and align with sermon emphasis
• Participates in the life and ministry of the church, including Community Groups
• Attends weekly staff meetings
• Oversees all music and programming of First Baptist Church worship services
• Strategically plans, manages, and utilizes the worship ministry budget
• Recruits, equips, motivates, supervises, and shepherds music team leaders, musicians, and A/V tech team members
• Plans and coordinates worship practice at least once a week prior to Sunday worship
• Recruits and mentors a team of additional worship leaders as the church and worship ministry grow
• Develops musicians for more excellent service as they lead the church family in worship
• Ensures all A/V equipment, lighting, and Pro Presenter slides are functional and prepared for worship services
• Fulfill other duties assigned by the pastoral staff
