Primary
Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the career and technical education subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Direct and manage the program, allocated spaces, and associated responsibilities. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree, associate's degree, or high school diploma/GED and equivalent wage-earning experience required for certification
Valid Texas career and technical education certificate with required license, endorsements, and training for subject and level assigned, or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
Demonstrated competency in the career and technical education subject area assigned
CDL or willingness to obtain
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
Knowledge of agricultural science and technology
Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Ability to supervise agricultural field experiences
Ability to manage budget and personnel
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Student teaching, approved internship, or 2 years of wage-earning experience in area of certification
Major
Responsibilities and Duties:
Program Responsibilities
1. Oversee Supervised Agricultural Experience Program (SAEP), including assisting students in selecting and managing projects and regularly supervising school facilities (barn and greenhouse), as well as projects associated with those facilities.
2. Serve as advisor to local Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter, including planning and conducting leadership, citizenship, cooperative, career development, and competitive activities for students at local, regional, and state level.
3. Assist with planning and delivery of adult education and community programs relating to agricultural science and technology.
4. Manage the daily operation of the assigned subject area.
5. Comply with federal, state, and local regulations related to occupational area assigned.
6. May calculate, compile, and record receipts and maintain complete and systematic records of financial transactions that result from operation of simulated businesses, CTSO facilitation, or other classroom enterprises and fund collection. Ensure that operations are cost effective and funds are managed wisely.
7. Develop and administer a budget based on documented program needs and ensure that operations are cost effective and funds are managed wisely.
8. Coordinate fundraising activities and manage funds.
9. Maintain current inventory of all fixed assets related to the program.
10. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
Instructional Strategies
11. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in individual student differences.
12. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
13. Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
14. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
15. Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
Student Growth and Development
16. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
17. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal. It is an expectation of the assignment to oversee any CTSO (DECA, HOSA, FFA, TAFE, Skills
USA, TSA) associated with the program.
18. Present a positive role model for students; support the mission of the school district.
Classroom Management and Organization
19. Create classroom environments conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
20. Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
21. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
22. Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
23. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
