Primary
Purpose:
Provide visionary leadership and strategic oversight for the district's expanded and online learning programs to ensure equitable, high-quality, and innovative learning opportunities that increase student access, engagement, and academic success.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
* Master's Degree in Educational Administration or Curriculum & Instruction
* Valid Texas Principal Certification
Special Knowledge and
Skills:
* Comprehensive knowledge of curriculum and instructional best practices for online learning environments
* Comprehensive knowledge of district-approved learning management systems and digital instructional platforms
* Ability to analyze program-level data, including student achievement, progress monitoring, and course completion outcomes
* Ability to monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and implement continuous improvement processes
* Ability to interpret, implement, and monitor district policies, state regulations, and compliance requirements and procedures
* Advanced organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
* Ability to develop and deliver training and professional learning for adult staff
* Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with teachers, campus administrators, counselors, and district departments
* Strong project management and strategic planning abilities
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of administrative and/or supervisory experience at the secondary school level
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Program Leadership & Development
1. Design, implement, and oversee a comprehensive district-wide online learning program serving secondary students through hybrid learning, interim learning, summer school, credit recovery, credit acceleration, and other flexible learning pathways.
2. Collaborate with all district departments to develop and maintain an Online Learning Handbook which outlines student expectations, academic integrity standards, grading policies, and disciplinary procedures.
3. Participate in the development and support of the broad online learning vision.
Instructional Oversight
4. Conduct virtual "walkthroughs" to ensure digital course content is rigorous, accessible, and aligned with state standards.
5. Evaluate and monitor programmatic needs.
6. Monitor student enrollment, attendance, progress, grades, and active participation in the online course.
7. Bridge the virtual learning environment with the campus environment.
Collaboration & Support
8. Collaborate with Special Education and 504 staff to ensure appropriate accommodations and potential modifications for students with specialized needs.
9. Collaborate with Technology, Teaching & Learning, PEIMS, Student Services, and other district departments to support program implementation and compliance.
10. Provide training and resources regarding digital literacy and digital citizenship.
11. Deliver professional learning and on-going support to faculty in non-traditional instructional practices including, but not limited to, online instruction.
Leadership & Communication
12. Screen, interview, select, orient, supervise, and evaluate new staff.
13. Communicate effectively with administrators, staff, students, parents, and community stakeholders.
14. Facilitate, represent, and participate in school-related functions and activities, when necessary and applicable, including but not limited to conferences, and parent and student events.
Compliance & Operations
15. Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and local board policies related to instructional technology.
16. Assist in budget development and monitoring expenditures.
17. Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise and evaluate the performance of staff assigned to expanded learning opportunities. Conduct personnel conferences.
