Position: Expanded Learning Teacher- High School Science - AEP (2026-2027)

Primary Purpose:

The Expanded Learning Teacher is responsible for equipping students for success by developing and delivering highly effective virtual learning experiences through an online platform. The Teacher ensures students stay on track with their digital coursework by providing targeted instructional support. This role requires a balance of technical proficiency with the learning platform and the ability to build meaningful relationships with students in a remote or hybrid environment.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Knowledge of academic subject assigned
  • Ability to learn and apply all required and recommended technology applications to create efficiency and consistency in internal workflows and instructional practices
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior in a virtual setting
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work as part of a team
  • Must be responsible, accountable, and self-motivated
Experience:
  • Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience required
  • One to three years classroom teacher experience, preferred
  • Successful experience with virtual learning platforms, preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Strategies

1. Plan, prepare, and implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.

2. Identify, select, create, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.

3. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).

Student Growth and Development

4. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through assessment and progress monitoring.

5. Provide weekly progress reports to families and school administrators regarding student performance and attendance.

6. Be a positive role model for students; support mission of school district.

Classroom Management and Organization

7. Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.

8. Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.

9. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

10. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.

Communication

11. Maintain effective and efficient record-keeping procedures.

12. Provide a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.

13. Communicate with students, parents, and internal and external professionals within established timelines

14. Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.

Professional Growth and Development

15. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.

16. Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom and virtual teachers.

17. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

Other

18. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment

Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)

Environment: Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
