Job DescriptionPosition: FULL TIME Nights 7p-7a
The ER Tech is responsible for basic patient care duties, including therapeutic treatment as ordered by the physician on duty, operation of laboratory equipment, patient discharge, and education.
Responsibilities- Triage all patients upon arrival to determine their location of treatment (Emergency room versus urgent care).
- Provide general patient care, including therapeutic and diagnostic interventions.
- Provide age- and education-specific education to patients.
- Maintain a clean work environment and support duties as needed.
- Follow all company and HIPAA policies and procedures.
- Foster a friendly, respectful work environment and provide patient-focused care.
- Interpret physician instructions accurately and assist with treatment as directed.
- Administer medications and prepare/collect specimens; operate lab equipment and review lab policies.
- Collaborate with health team members to support patient well-being and communicate patient needs to the physician and operations coordinator.
- Execute physician orders, including medications, treatments, and IVs, per policy and procedure.
- Document patient responses to medications and prepare specimens as required.
- Attend mandatory skills training, maintain professional certifications and licenses, and participate in facility certifications.
- Maintain CEUs and complete yearly assigned education on time.
- Attend staff meetings and acknowledge minutes for any not attended.
- Provide patient education and discharge instructions; observe infection control and OSHA safety guidelines.
- Be aware of the physical demands of the role and comply with safety guidelines in a healthcare setting.
- Prepare for and adapt to operational scheduling needs, including rotations and on-call shifts.
- Time management and the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals; comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Strong communication skills for effective patient interactions and group presentations.
- High school diploma or GED; LVN or EMT-P certification and diploma;
Current BLS & ACLS certification. - Technical understanding, diagnostic procedure performance, and basic math skills.
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and solve problems with a few concrete variables.
- Completion of company-provided laboratory testing education and competency.
