The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a key member of our outpatient mental health team, responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric care to patients with diverse needs. This role includes conducting evaluations, managing medications, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver patient‑centered, evidence‑based care in a supportive environment.
Qualifications- Education:
Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program. - Licensure:
Current licensure as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP or PMHNP‑BC). - Experience:
Minimum 2 years of clinical psychiatric experience (5+ years preferred). - Knowledge:
Familiarity with The Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS, DHS, and state/federal regulatory standards. - Additional Requirements:
Must complete TB testing, drug screening, and background check upon hire.
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, including history, mental status exams, and diagnostic assessments.
- Formulate accurate psychiatric diagnoses and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Manage psychotropic medication regimens, including initiation, titration, and monitoring.
- Provide crisis intervention and risk assessments for patients in acute distress.
- Partner with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other providers to deliver cohesive care.
- Participate in case consultations and team meetings to review patient progress.
- Refer patients to higher levels of care or community resources when appropriate.
- Educate patients and families on psychiatric conditions, treatment options, and self‑care strategies.
- Advocate for patients' needs within the healthcare system and in the community.
- Maintain accurate and timely records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Ensure compliance with clinic policies, legal regulations, and ethical standards.
- Monitor and adhere to DEA and state guidelines regarding controlled substance prescribing.
- Stay current with advancements in psychiatric care through continuing education.
- Contribute to clinic quality improvement initiatives and professional growth opportunities.
- Clinical Expertise:
Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders, psychopharmacology, and evidence‑based practices. - Communication:
Ability to build rapport with patients and collaborate effectively across teams. - Critical Thinking:
Skilled in assessing needs, prioritizing interventions, and making sound decisions. - Cultural Competence:
Sensitive and adaptable in working with diverse backgrounds and communities. - Professionalism:
Committed to confidentiality, ethics, and continuous improvement. - Technological Proficiency:
Comfortable with EHR systems, telehealth platforms, and related tools.
- Ability to perform outpatient clinical duties, including extended periods of sitting, computer use, and patient interaction.
- Regular engagement with patients experiencing emotional or behavioral distress.
- Occasional travel may be required for training, networking, or community outreach.
