Certified Surgical Technologist
Join a nationally recognized pediatric healthcare team dedicated to providing exceptional surgical care for children. We are seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to support our surgeons and perioperative team in delivering safe, compassionate, and high-quality patient care at our Prosper Medical Center. As a Certified Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in the operating room by preparing and maintaining a sterile surgical environment, anticipating the needs of the surgeon, and ensuring the availability of instruments and equipment throughout each procedure.
You will function as a Scrub Technologist or First Assistant under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or Physician while collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary surgical team.
Schedule:
Full-time (40 hours/week), Choose one of the following schedules:
Five 8-hour day shifts or Four 10-hour day shifts. On-call commitment of 6–8 shifts per month, including two 24-hour weekend call shifts.
Initial training will be completed at our Fort Worth Medical Center before transitioning to Prosper.
Please Note:
Due to on-call response requirements, candidates must reside within 30 minutes of Prosper, TX, or be willing to relocate prior to employment.
- Prepare operating rooms with appropriate instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies.
- Establish and maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
- Anticipate the surgeon's needs by selecting and passing instruments and supplies efficiently.
- Perform surgical counts according to established protocols.
- Assist with patient positioning, specimen handling, and room turnover.
- Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment safely and effectively.
- Support patient safety initiatives while adhering to infection prevention and sterile technique standards.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and other members of the surgical team to provide exceptional pediatric patient care.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Current certification through NBSTSA (CST) or NCCT (TS-C) prior to employment.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and operating room procedures.
- Two or more years of experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist.
- Previous pediatric surgical experience is highly preferred.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume operating room.
