Primary
Purpose:
Administer and operate the district’s network systems. Collaborate with various departments and vendors to install and maintain network equipment and applications. The administrator’s duties will include, but not be limited to, provisioning, installation, configuration, testing, and oversight of all network-related systems and hardware. Monitor all district networking equipment, software, and hardware, including maintenance of physical network closets, data centers, and related equipment (generators, uninterruptible power systems, climate control, etc.).
Additionally, the administrator will provide backup support for other system administrators.
- Bachelor’s degree in a computer‑related field (preferred) or equivalent work experience
- Industry certifications such as CCNA/JNCIA-Junos/JNCIA‑MistAI or Network+ (required) Juniper JNCIS/JNCIP, CCNP, CWNA, or CWNP (preferred)
- Knowledge of network components
- Knowledge of LAN/WAN architecture, design, and configuration
- Knowledge of Routing Protocols: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP Knowledge of wireless architecture, design, and configuration
- Knowledge of IP addressing, subnetting, and DNS/DHCP administration
- Experience with Network Monitoring (Solarwinds, PRTG, DNAC, Mist or industry equivalent)
- Ability to discern logs/alerts and respond appropriately
- Knowledge of server components and configurations
- Knowledge of software applications, including Google Education Suite and Office 365
- Ability to work with multiple operating systems (Windows, Chrome OS, Apple OS)
- Experience with scripting languages such as Power Shell, Java, Python, etc. (preferred)
- Knowledge of workstations and peripherals
- Three years of experience performing Cisco and/or Juniper equipment or related network equipment maintenance, support, and configuration
- Experience in a school district or education environment with an emphasis on network work, preferred
- Experience with report building/presenting
- Ability to prepare documentation and deliver training on processes to peers or other departments as needed
- Understanding of data security, including but not limited to limiting access and traffic flow
- Attention to detail, strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of VMWare/NSX/Nutanix Flow or other SDN/data center software‑defined systems
