Position: Receiver - Retail Receiver (81918)

Summary

The individual will be responsible for accounting for every item that comes into the store’s inventory and every item that leaves the store, ensuring no over‐shipments or mis‑deliveries and guarding against unauthorized vendor deliveries.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Know and actively demonstrate the Company Mission Statement and Core Values daily.
  • Maintain uniform standard for worked hours as detailed in the Employee Manual.
  • Review and react to daily emails regarding incoming products.
  • Receive and verify contents of all shipments against purchase orders, invoices and tasting calendar using RF scanner, unwrapping as needed, and receive drop‑shipped deliveries the day of arrival.
  • Visually check all cases/bottles for breakage and report infractions to a manager.
  • Ensure all products are scanned properly with the RF gun; leave beer POs open on the RF gun until beer is fully unloaded and stocked, and do not receive any breakage.
  • Make necessary notes on invoices to indicate products with no issues, variances, damaged, and unreceived items.
  • Check invoice against scan log and use a Troubled Invoice Form to communicate issues to Accounts Payable.
  • Log all invoices and transfers into the receiving log, bundle, and send downtown on the next pickup.
  • Make a copy of the log and maintain a neat, organized filing system for in‑store paperwork.
  • Man doors that remain open during the receiving process and ensure receiving doors are locked and armed when not in use.
  • Control the receiving area to ensure no product is removed until verified and received via RF scanner.
  • Maintain neat and orderly receiving and stock areas, including regular sweeping and maintenance.
  • Prepare receiving and stock areas for inventory and assist in the inventory process.
  • Maintain a special order communication area and a separate special order product area.
  • Move supplies and equipment when needed for efficient storage space.
  • Assist in pulling and receiving transfers and complete paperwork as required.
  • Inform the manager of out‑of‑stocks on key items and provide feedback regarding product movement.
  • Review negative inventory reports and correct counts to ensure data integrity for the PO system.
  • Work with and maintain computers and RF scanner equipment, and provide feedback on any issues.
  • Create and maintain strong professional relationships with vendors, drivers, and merchandisers.
  • When on the sales floor, assist guests, sell, and add‑on.
  • Seek to continually improve related skills and knowledge to contribute to profitability and productivity.
  • May be asked to run a cash register and/or stock shelves as business dictates.
  • Carry out directives of management efficiently and fulfill responsibilities with care and attention to detail.
  • Practice teamwork and cooperation with others, possess time‑management skills, prioritize tasks, and manage stress in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Limit use of personal cell phone to work‑related activities only.
  • Work in accordance with all safety regulations of Specs Family Partners and OSHA.
  • Other projects and tasks assigned by management, including occasional bathroom cleaning duties.
  • Attendance and timeliness are required; this is not a remote position.
  • May be required to work in a temperature‑controlled fridge/freezer/humidor requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Hours

Full‑time is typically 35+ hours per week. Must be available to work any shift on Friday or Saturday and must be available 80% or more of all shifts each week. Part‑time is up to 25 hours per week. Working outside of scheduled time without District Manager approval is prohibited.

Qualifications
  • Must be over age 21.
  • High school diploma or GED is preferred; retail receiving experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions or memos; communicate effectively with coworkers; bilingual skills a plus.
  • Mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; counting is a major plus.
  • Demeanor: smiley, friendly, helpful; responsible, reliable, self‑starter with strong work ethic; patience, friendliness, outgoing personality.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly, up to 100 pounds occasionally, push and pull 50–100 pounds regularly using proper lifting techniques.
  • Standing, walking, bending; ability to use arms, hands, fingers to handle and lift; climb and balance.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.
  • Valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit and Food Handlers Permit required in some cases.
Work Environment and Conditions

Work occurs in a retail store environment, potentially exposed to outdoor weather, refrigeration, or heated/humidified areas. Noise level is moderate to loud. Safety regulations of Specs Family Partners and OSHA must be followed.
