Senior Accountant – Affordable Housing

Salary $100,000 to $120,000 base + bonus

Our client is a mission-driven real estate organization with a long-standing focus on affordable housing development and preservation. This role offers hands‑on exposure to complex, multi‑layered affordable housing projects including LIHTC, public funding sources, and joint venture structures. You will work closely with development and asset management teams while gaining visibility across the full project lifecycle. Clear path to Manager level for the right individual.

Hybrid schedule with three days onsite.

• Oversee accounting for multiple affordable housing development and rehabilitation projects
• Manage project-based accounting including job cost tracking and construction budgets
• Prepare and review construction draws, requisitions, and lender reporting packages
• Track and reconcile funding sources including LIHTC equity, soft debt, and public grants
• Lead monthly project closes and prepare detailed financial reporting
• Support year‑end audits and coordinate with external auditors and tax preparers
• Partner with development, property management, and joint venture stakeholders on financial performance
• Ensure compliance with affordable housing regulatory and reporting requirements

• BS in Accounting required
• 6+ years of real estate or project-based accounting experience with direct exposure to affordable housing
• Strong understanding of LIHTC structures and affordable housing funding sources preferred
• Experience with construction draws, development accounting, and multi‑entity reporting
• Proficiency in Excel required
• Experience with MRI, Yardi, or similar real estate accounting systems preferred
• Detail‑oriented with strong communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally
