PHIG Operations Support Specialist

Summary

The Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG) at the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) is seeking a PHIG Operations Support Specialist to work across three complex strategy areas:
Workforce Development, Foundational Capabilities, and Data Modernization.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with complex tasks involved in the implementation and administration of the PHIG grant, a unique cross‑cutting funding opportunity that supports all divisions and programs at RIDOH.
  • Organize and maintain official electronic files in MS Teams/SharePoint to ensure information is easy to find and cataloged for reference in the future.
  • Assist with the purchasing and procurement of goods and services that support the goals of the PHIG grant.
  • Study and analyze operational procedures and prepare detailed and comprehensive reports of findings and recommendations.
  • Assist with coordination and communication with other states PHIG teams.
  • Coordinate the flow of work across PHIG strategy areas and various programs within the agency.
  • Track projects through execution and completion, escalating issues that need follow up.
  • Attend conferences and meetings on behalf of the executive leadership team and take notes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Superior attention to detail.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize.
  • Flexibility and comfort working as part of a team and independently in a dynamic environment where priorities may shift.
  • Strong understanding of government administration, processes, and procedures.
  • Must be comfortable working in SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with JIRA preferred.
Education And Experience
  • Education gained through successful completion of at least two years of academic study in an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Experience gained through employment in a government assisting a high-level official performing complex administrative and supportive tasks involved in the implementation and administration of major projects and programs that had effect on all large divisions, departments or agencies.
