Job Summary

Under general supervision of the City Assessor or designee performs responsible clerical work utilizing initiative and judgment in relatively routine assignments.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responds to inquiries from the general public; answers all general correspondence from the general public.
  • Answers phones and assists at the counter as needed.
  • Assists motor vehicle appraiser with tax roll preparation. Including pricing, and data entry under supervision.
  • Updates City Assessor’s webpage.
  • Maintains a typical system of accounts requiring decisions of an advanced bookkeeping nature, inspects forms, and makes booking reports.
  • Engages in typing, sorting, filing, or other routine work to ensure the adherence to procedures.
  • Participates in typical clerical work involving the preparation, filing, or processing a large body of important documents or forms.
  • Makes decisions within limits of general instructions and recommends changes in procedure and forms as needed.
  • Gathers data pursuant to the Access to Public Records Act (“APRA”) requests to the department, and Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Knowledge of office procedures, practices, and Microsoft Office.
  • Successful completion of Computer Training Level III course within six (6) months
  • Must have data processing ability.
  • Must have skill and accuracy in basic mathematics and bookkeeping entries.
  • Working knowledge of Department procedures relative to State Law and City Ordinances.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and courteously.
  • Ability to understand and carry out complex written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job.
  • Must have data processing ability with a minimum of 42 words per minute.
