SUMMARY

Reports to the Director Nursing Strategic Business Planning and Analysis and is responsible for ensuring effective planning and implementation of operational budget month-end and ad-hoc reporting financial analysis supporting the value analysis process verifying cosmetic pricing and managing special purpose funds. This role demands a keen eye for detail strong financial acumen and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors Degree required;
Masters Degree in Management Analytics Health Administration Public Health or related discipline preferred

At least two years experience in the management or administration of clinical department activities including surgical information services within a teaching hospital required with demonstrated emphasis on effective financial management and reimbursement mechanisms.

High level of analytical quantitative and problem-solving skills in order to function as business manager and to prepare financial proposals reports and analysis in support of programs and activities.

Strong financial acumen and persuasive collaborative business acumen.

Ability to establish budgets based on realistic projections accuracy in forecasting budget requirements and application of sound accounting principles in preparing budgets collaborating with department leaders.

High level of organizational and interpersonal skills to interact primarily with physicians on matters having multiple and varying impact on department financial objectives and to respond effectively to competing needs for resources.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Consistently applies the corporate values of respect honesty and fairness and the constant pursuit of excellence in improving the health status of the people of the region through the provision of customer-friendly geographically accessible and high-value services within the environment of a comprehensive integrated academic health system. Is responsible for knowing and acting in accordance with the principles of the Lifespan Corporate Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.

Oversees production and maintenance of department statistics. Reviews and analyzes statistics. Identifies trends and makes recommendations to assist in long range planning.

Oversees the development implementation and maintenance of the perioperative services annual operating budget processes. On-going monitoring of operational budget variances and plans appropriate adjustments with the leadership.

Conducts staffing utilization and operational management studies to identify and anticipate problems to improve operating and management systems and to critically evaluate proposed changes or new programs. Presents results including financial impact to OR management team.

Evaluates effectiveness of operations and makes recommendations to Director of Nursing Strategic Business Planning and Analysis and the Vice President/Associate Chief Nursing Officer for Perioperative Services. Develops standard and ad hoc reports for the surgical services leadership team as need.

Resolves patient billing problems as needed.

Collaborates with Manager of Materials Management regarding supply purchases usage and pricing.

In conjunction with Information Services Administration develops policies and procedures related to computerized surgical information system. Recommends changes as appropriate to meet evolving needs.

Analyzes data and information flow to ensure optimum utilization of automated systems

Designs develops and produces a variety of customized complex and integrated reports such as surgical logs statistical data patient charges inventories quality assurance reports to meet needs for financial and clinical information utilized by the Lifespan Surgical Executive Committee. Oversees production and distribution of various regular and ad hoc surgical information reports and documents. Ensures integrity of data reported; reviews audit and other production and non-routine reports to determine accuracy of data input and overall integrity of master file data.
