Inspector, Construction, Civil Engineering

Job Description

WSP is seeking a Construction Inspector to oversee road, bridge, or related construction projects valued at $1–$50 million. The position can be based out of Providence, RI or Glastonbury, CT.

• Interfacing with contractor supervisors to determine and monitor daily work.
• Performing field measurements and calculations for unit price item quantities.
• Completing daily work reports in accordance with company policies.
• Coordinating independent material sampling and testing or performing them periodically.
• Monitoring maintenance of traffic.
• Taking and compiling photographs of work activities for tracking daily progress.
• Keeping the Chief Inspector and/or Resident Engineer informed on all construction activities.
• Working in highway and construction environments under year‑round weather conditions.
• Potentially working days, nights, and weekends.
• Making responsible and ethical decisions regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.

• High School Diploma.
• Minimum 3 years of construction inspection experience.
• Strong oral and written technical communication skills.
• Ability to learn how to read plans and specifications, or aptitude to learn.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
• Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and compliance with WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Engineer‑In‑Training certification.
• NICET HCI Level II.
• ACI or NETTCP certification, or ability to attain within 3 months of hiring.
• Hands‑on experience with construction management software such as AASHTOWare Project, Headlight, Procore, or similar systems.
• Knowledge of Bluebeam.
