Construction Inspector (Utilities & Pipeline Projects)

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Inspector to support utility and pipeline replacement projects. In this role, you will perform daily field inspections to ensure construction activities comply with project plans, specifications, and safety standards. You will leverage mobile technology to document site conditions in real time and collaborate with contractors, project teams, and the public to maintain quality, schedule, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

+ Conduct daily field inspections of utility and pipeline construction activities

+ Verify compliance with project plans, specifications, and safety regulations

+ Complete and submit detailed daily inspection reports using mobile devices (iPad/tablet)

+ Monitor project progress, documenting site conditions, milestones, and issues

+ Identify and report deficiencies, deviations, or non-conformance in a timely manner

+ Coordinate with contractors, field crews, and project stakeholders to support schedule adherence

+ Maintain accurate photo documentation, logs, and field records

+ Communicate with residents and the public to provide updates and address concerns

+ Work independently across multiple job sites, managing priorities and deadlines

+ Partner with project teams to proactively resolve issues and recommend corrective actions

Required Qualifications

+ Experience in construction inspection, construction management, or civil engineering

+ Working knowledge of utility infrastructure, including wastewater and pipeline systems

+ Experience interacting with contractors and field crews on active job sites

+ Strong organizational and documentation skills (field reports, photos, logs)

+ Ability to adapt to changing site conditions and priorities

+ Effective communication skills with both technical teams and the general public

Preferred Qualifications

+ Previous experience on municipal or infrastructure projects

+ Familiarity with safety standards (OSHA or equivalent)

+ Proficiency using mobile inspection/reporting tools and software

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Providence, RI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
