Construction Inspector
The Construction Inspector performs daily field inspections on utility and pipeline replacement projects to ensure work complies with project plans, specifications, and safety standards. This role focuses on monitoring construction activities, documenting site conditions in real time using mobile technology, and coordinating with contractors and stakeholders to maintain schedule, quality, and public satisfaction.
Responsibilities- Perform daily field inspections of construction activities related to utility and pipeline replacement projects.
- Verify that construction work complies with project plans, specifications, and applicable safety standards.
- Complete and submit detailed daily inspection reports in real time using iPads or similar mobile technology.
- Track project progress, document site conditions, and promptly report any issues, deviations, or non-conformances.
- Coordinate with contractors, construction crews, and project stakeholders to support schedule adherence and quality control.
- Communicate effectively with residents and the general public to address questions, provide updates, and help minimize disruption.
- Support project documentation by capturing photos, maintaining logs, and organizing field records.
- Work independently across multiple job sites while managing inspection priorities and deadlines.
- Collaborate with project teams to identify potential issues early and recommend corrective actions when needed.
- Background in construction, construction inspection, or civil engineering.
- Knowledge of wastewater systems and related construction activities.
- Experience coordinating with contractors, crews, and project stakeholders on active construction sites.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate photos, logs, and field records.
- Ability to adapt to changing site conditions and project priorities.
- Customer-service mindset when interacting with residents and the general public.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Providence, RI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00 per hour. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
