We seek a jr level designer to join our creative team.
Primary FocusDesign and create jewelry and accessory products based on brand and customer directions and market trends.
General Responsibilities- Develop and execute product designs that will reflect customer’s needs and achieve merchandising objectives.
- Research seasonal trends and create trend presentations, including boards, tear sheets, samples and components.
- Ability to create new product designs through computer rendering and assembled samples.
- Create products by designing through manipulating materials.
- Provide direction to the manipulators on product designs.
- Ability to craft conceptual direction / creative vision for new products/collections.
- Bring a high level of creativity, attention to detail and efficiency while working under tight deadlines and on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Collaborate with Sales, and PD team to ensure that designs are engineered to meet cost and margin targets, while remaining aesthetically pleasing.
- Work with Product Development Teams both locally and overseas to ensure that proper interpretation of designs is executed into actual samples.
- Consistently provide detailed specification information of materials, components and parts to PD and overseas vendors.
- Present/speak to product and trend internally and with outside partners.
- Shop stores. Provide recap of newness – techniques, colors, what’s new out at retailers
- Some domestic travel.
- 1-2 years of jewelry design experience
- Bachelor’s Degree Textiles Merchandising and Design Program preferred
- Must be able to manipulate original designs
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to create renderings and technical drawings.
- Must be able to interpret trends and seasonal color pallets for customers’ needs
- Excellent oral and written communication skills - ability to present / sell creative ideas
- Technical jewelry expertise and superior knowledge of construction and componentry
- Sense of urgency and ability to multi-task – with a positive attitude and confidence.
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced, time sensitive, and ever-evolving business environment and perform under pressure
