Rhode Island Tutorial & Educational Services (RITES) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students and adults in the community by providing affordable academic intervention services. With a focus on individuals with learning differences such as dyslexia, ADHD, and executive function challenges, RITES offers tailored instruction to suit individual learning styles, using certified and experienced educators. The organization continually integrates research-based, scientifically-backed approaches to ensure effective teaching.

RITES also serves the community by offering workshops, advocacy, and educational resources.

Role Description

This is a part-time in‑person position for Orton‑Gillingham Certified Tutors, based in Providence, RI. Tutors will provide personalized, one‑on‑one instruction to students using the Orton‑Gillingham approach. Responsibilities include planning and delivering lessons aligned with each student’s unique needs, supporting improvements in reading, writing, and literacy skills, and maintaining accurate records of sessions. Tutors will collaborate with families and RITES staff to ensure the success of each student.

Qualifications
  • Orton‑Gillingham certification and experience with multisensory instruction methods
  • Skills in literacy instruction, including reading, writing, and structured phonics
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with students, families, and colleagues
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate students with learning differences
  • Organizational skills to develop lesson plans and maintain accurate student records
  • Experience working with students with dyslexia, ADHD, or executive function weaknesses is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, special education, or a related field is preferred
