The Learning for Life Associate Director will work with the Director to ensure that all Learning for Life (L4L) department goals and objectives to support underrepresented students to complete college are realized. The Associate Director will oversee, coordinate, and facilitate day-to-day network operations and activities including triage of emergent student concerns and linkage to emergency resources. The Associate Director's duties include program development;
oversight of special projects; student outreach and recruitment; staff development and supervision; timely reporting; and coordination of Navigator training and other network activities. The Associate Director is also responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the campus food pantry, ensuring it is welcoming, accessible, and student-centered.
Essential Duties
* Represent the Director in the absence of the Director in order to insure continued efficient and effective operation of the office.
* Collaborate with the Director in the coordination and facilitation of Navigator trainings and biweekly All Staff Meetings. This includes development of training materials related to on/off-campus resources, completion of triage appointments/basic needs assessments, protocols for responding to students in crisis (mental health, emergency housing, food insecurity, etc.), facilitating Scholar meetings and Emergency Fund meetings, documentation, ethics, and other related components of Navigator training.
* Provide individual/group supervision to Navigator interns and Graduate Assistants in the absence of a Clinical Coordinator.
* Contribute towards the training, supervision, and support of all department staff, including professional, clerical, and student staff, including administrative tasks such as payroll.
* Ensure appropriate staffing of food pantry. Train, supervise, and support student workers. Monitor inventory and purchase food items, hygiene products, etc. as needed to keep pantry well-stocked. Explore grant opportunities and community partnerships with food banks, supermarkets, farmers markets, etc. for growth and sustainability of food pantry.
* Support the Director in the development, review, evaluation, and implementation of all
* L4L operating policies, including updating L4L Handbook.
* Design and ensure implementation of data collection, service coordination and reporting systems, including student needs assessment, record-keeping, and service planning.
* Provide clinical intervention, planning, and monitoring with students who present chronic or emergent support needs; support and ensure follow-up through a network of Navigators and student support services (i.e., Counseling Center, CARE Team, etc.
* Collaborate with the Director to implement annual departmental goals and objectives.
* Explore and develop collaborative projects with on and off-campus partners, including Onward We Learn (OWL) and College Visions (CV), to maximize resources and strengthen relations.
* Contribute towards the development, updating, and implementation of marketing materials, communications, the website, and social media.
* Plan network events and activities, such as the monthly Community Lunch, and coordinate communications to relevant audiences to assure growing participation.
* Work with faculty partners to implement Navigator internship opportunities and ensure holistic support to all students served.
* Develop coordinated, effective methods and tools for communication among all program participants to document program outcomes and develop reports.
* Work as part of an interdisciplinary team with campus and community partners to provide holistic service for students, participating in college committees, etc.
* In the absence of the Director, monitor network expenditures and coordinate accounting activities including purchasing.
* Effectively communicate and model the values, vision and mission of the network and Rhode Island College.
