Meetings/Dates:

* Program duration:
May 18, 2026 - July 17, 2026.

* Week of April 14, 2026:
Instructor Orientation and Planning Session (Time TBD).

* Classes meet Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM.

* Thursday, July 16 ,2026:
Poster Presentation & Pitch Session.

* Weekly meetings with the Project Director.

* Specific meetings and additional orientation dates (if applicable) will be communicated upon hiring.

Position Overview

The Rhode Island College McNair Scholars Program is a federally funded TRIO program designed to prepare eligible undergraduates for doctoral study through involvement in research and other scholarly activities. The program's goal is to increase the attainment of PhD degrees by students from underrepresented segments of society.

Essential Duties

* Develop and deliver a structured course curriculum aligned with McNair Program goals.

* Guide students through the development of research proposals.

* Teach principles of research design, methodology, and academic inquiry.

* Assist students in selecting appropriate research methods and designing effective studies.

* Provide strategies for identifying and collaborating with faculty mentors.

* Facilitate workshops on research writing, conducting literature reviews, and adhering to ethical research practices.

* Support students in preparing, designing, and presenting professional research posters.

* Offer timely, constructive feedback on assignments, research drafts, and presentations.

* Maintain accurate documentation of student engagement, assignments, and academic progress.

* Collaborate regularly with McNair staff and faculty mentors to ensure student success.

* Organize and host a Poster Presentation Session on July 17, 2026.

Occasional Duties Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

* Strong commitment to teaching and mentoring underrepresented, first-generation college students.

* Expertise in research design, proposal development, and academic writing.

* Ability to engage and inspire undergraduate researchers.

* Proficiency with digital tools for instruction and research.

* Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Required Qualifications

* Master's in a relevant field.

* Experience teaching research methods and mentoring undergraduate students.

Preferred Qualifications

* PhD in a relevant field (e.g., psychology, sociology, education, or a related discipline).

* Experience guiding students through poster presentations and academic research communication.

* Familiarity with undergraduate research programs (such as McNair or other TRIO programs).

Environmental Conditions

The employee is not exposed to known adverse environmental conditions. Instruction and mentoring occur in classrooms and other college facilities. Participation in program workshops, presentations, and related activities with students is expected.
