Middle School Music Teacher

Middle School Music Teacher:
Grades 6-8 – Begins August 2026

The Wheeler School is an independent N‑12 day school with capital and farm campuses serving approximately 800 students in the Greater Providence and Greater Boston areas. We are looking for a music teacher to join our Middle School.

Founded in 1889 by visionary artist and educator Mary

C. Wheeler, the school’s mission “to learn our powers and be answerable for their use” is reflected in classrooms, athletic fields, art studios and STEAM labs. Dedicated faculty and staff foster academic excellence, artistic expression and personal growth for all students.

As a member of the Music department, you will teach musical offerings for grades 6‑8, support both vocal and instrumental programs, and participate in school‑wide music and cultural events.

• Teach assigned music courses for grades 6‑8
• Support Middle School and Lower School musical productions
• Collaborate with Music department colleagues
• Arrange music for performance groups
• Oversee beginning instrumental instruction
• Participate in and support school‑wide music and cultural events

• BMus or BA in music (advanced degree preferred)
• Experience teaching in a music department from pre‑K through high school
• Expertise and training in Orff or Kodály
• Interest in designing and implementing curriculum
• Experience facilitating instrumental music programming
