Facilitates the provision of reasonable accommodations and advising to students with disabilities
Essential Job Functions
* Develops and implements a comprehensive plan for disability services and in and out of classroom accommodations for students with disabilities
* Meets with prospective and current students and their families, as needed, and maintains records accordingly
* Provides disability services orientations to students, parents and faculty
* Educates faculty on best practices they can use while teaching students with disabilities including researching and recommending assistive technology
* Advises on personal and academic issues for students with disabilities
* Coordinates special workshops, instructional programs and placement testing, as necessary
* Manages compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act to consistently meet the needs of students
* Participates with various departmental or campus committees on disability related issues
* Proctors testing sessions, as necessary
* Supervises and manages student employees, as necessary, to enhance their academic and professional development
* Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
* Minimum of a master's degree
* Moderate amount of experience advising students with disabilities or other related experience
Preferred Qualifications
* Master's degree in special education, counseling or a related field of study
Please Note:
Qualified candidates must live or relocate to live within a daily commuting distance of the Providence Campus location upon hire.
