Summary
Meets with students individually or in small groups to provide academic support related to course content, course-related readings and course-related written assignments so students can successfully complete their coursework; as well as provides instruction, teaching and guidance in the area of academic success skills.
Essential Job Functions- Tutors students on specific course content, course-related readings and course-related written assignments.
- Tutors students in the area of academic success skills (e.g. learning strategies, time management, etc.).
- Coordinates tutoring goals with advisers, academic counselors and faculty to effectively meet student needs.
- Attends tutor training sessions and staff meetings, as applicable.
- Administers individualized tests to students with accommodations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related field of study (e.g., biochemistry or chemical engineering).
- Ability to tutor courses such as general chemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry at the undergraduate level.
- Ability to work daytime hours on weekdays and work on occasional weekends for special events.
- Experience tutoring or teaching students.
Qualified candidates must live or relocate to live within a daily commuting distance of the Providence Campus location upon hire.
