Position Overview

• The Biology Department is seeking part‑time instructor positions with expertise in Microbiology and Bacteriology. Candidates may teach introductory, intermediate, and advanced courses.
• Adjunct faculty will be committed to teaching and working with our multicultural student population, teaching courses as needed at the undergraduate/graduate level.
• Classes are in‑person specialty courses for students majoring in Biology, Health Sciences, and Nursing.

• Master’s degree in a biological science.
• Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate instruction and to mentoring students.

• Experience teaching introductory biology and advanced courses including microbiology lecture and laboratory.
• Experience with nontraditional students and with an ethnically diverse student population.

• Rate per credit hour: $1122 (lab) – $1548 (lecture).
• There are no fringe benefits for this position.

• Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without employer sponsorship.
• Appointment is contingent upon receipt of an acceptable background screening conducted once selected.
• Upon hire, a transcript of the highest degree earned is required.
• Union eligibility:
  Adjuncts may join the RIC/AFT Adjunct Union after completing 6 load hours (excludes applied music) in the two previous consecutive years.
• Payment is processed once a month, with applicable taxes withheld.
• Writing sample, teaching evaluations, and/or letters of recommendation are not required at the time of application and are required only if requested directly by the department chair.
