Job DescriptionUnder the direction of the Director of Early Childhood and Chief of Student Support Services, the Social Worker will lead transition conferences, referral reviews, eligibility, and IEP meetings for children aging out of Early Intervention.
Responsibilities- Provide written reports on evaluated students; participate in transition conferences, referral reviews, eligibility meetings, and IEP meetings.
- Document services for Medicaid purposes.
- Work collaboratively with the team to determine testing and meeting needs.
- Support completion of pre‑kindergarten cases.
- Review files to ensure appropriate permissions obtained for evaluations.
- Contact parents (calls, letters) to schedule evaluation sessions.
- Document all attempts to contact families and results in Power School.
- Complete eligibility documentation, including prior written notice.
- Input necessary documentation into Skyward and Power School.
- Commit to work all days indicated in the posting.
- Perform related duties assigned by Manager of Special Education and Services or Executive Director of Special Education.
- Master’s or equivalency in Social Work.
- Experience with administration of Vineland 3, Connors 3, and completing social histories; depth knowledge of RIELDS and completion of at least one RIELDS training and COS training.
- Experience completing transition meetings and referral reviews for children in EI.
- Ability to develop goals and complete all paperwork for early childhood referral.
- Ability to develop and implement appropriate goals based on RIELDS.
- Experience as case manager for PK children and supporting caseload needs.
- Working knowledge of Skyward and Power School.
- Current Rhode Island Teacher Certificate(s) in appropriate subject area (PK‑12 Social Worker).
- Bilingual endorsement preferred; ESL preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
- Good communication and human relations skills.
- Formulate concise clinical reports.
- Demonstrated proficiency with PC‑based computer applications, Microsoft Office, email, web applications, and industry‑specific technology.
