Job DescriptionLocation: Del Sesto Middle School
Program Dates: July 6, 2026 - July 17, 2026, Monday‑Friday 8:30am - 3:30pm
Compensation: $40.00 per hour, contingent upon funding
Teachers are required to provide academic instruction in math and ELA in accordance with the district summer curriculum and must be MLL certified. Teachers must complete an 8‑hour paid professional development for the Sea Perch curriculum prior to the program start date.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCERIDE Requirements:
- All Grades English to Speakers of Other Languages Teacher, Grades PK-12
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current/valid RI Teacher Certificate in the appropriate secondary subject area; MLL and/or SPED certifications preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education from an accredited teacher education program
- Prior experience delivering high‑quality, standards‑based Mathematics, ELA, or STEAM instruction in a fun and engaging manner, urban setting preferred
- Ability to differentiate and scaffold instruction to support and accelerate learning
- Asset‑based view of diverse cultures and commitment to a growth mindset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Create a fun, engaging and safe learning environment for Grade 9 students
- Implement the district summer learning curriculum focused on ELA, Mathematics, and Science
- Provide direct instruction for whole group, small group, and individual students based on needs
- Administer and interpret educational assessments; implement evidence‑based instructional strategies and interventions
- Differentiate instruction by developing, selecting, and modifying instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students
- Promote a supportive classroom atmosphere conducive to intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development
- Maintain appropriate records and follow all required procedures and practices for monitoring and evaluating student outcomes
- Participate fully in a professional community, including common planning, professional development, and self‑reflection/evaluation
- Supervise students in a range of settings and protect and promote their safety and well‑being
- Communicate effectively and professionally with students, colleagues, parents, and the community
- Continuously develop and evolve teaching practice and support colleagues in their development
- Commit to working all days of the program and to attending all professional development days, as required by the summer learning program
