Compensation up to $8,266 (contingent upon enrollment and funding)
PPSD seeks summer ESY school administrators. Under direction of the Executive Director and the Office of Specialized Instruction and Services, the principal will be the administrator in charge and responsible for the successful administration of the ESY program. The principal will plan for classroom and facility use, acquire all necessary supplies and materials, ensure proper student scheduling, maintain a safe, orderly and effective learning environment, foster positive communication with the school community (including parents), and oversee daily operations during the entire ESY program.
The principal will obtain all final data and documentation from teachers and ensure they are passed to the appropriate level manager, and will submit a final report to the Executive Director.
- Must hold the appropriate administrator level certification issued by the Rhode Island Department of Education.
- Special Education Administrator certification preferred.
- Must not be a current 12‑month administrator.
- Building administrator certification required.
- Superior interpersonal communication and written skills.
- Ability to enact school policies and discipline procedures with fairness and equity.
- Ability to enact emergency procedures when and if necessary.
- Ability to work collaboratively with all ESY school staff.
- Evidence of successful implementation of district instructional initiatives.
- Reports directly to the Executive Director of Specialized Instruction and Services.
- Assumes responsibility for pre‑session logistics, scheduling, teacher assignments and student enrollment.
- Administers the ESY program in accordance with students’ IEPs.
- Maintains accurate records.
- Manages personnel and fiscal accountability.
- Verifies & prepares time sheets.
- Supervises all staff and their duties associated with program operation.
- Handles closing procedures including data collection and program report/evaluation submission.
