- Thursday, 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM
$40.00 per hour (Contingent upon funding)
The Secondary Credit Recovery Teacher is a classroom instruction specialist. The credit recovery teacher provides high-level academic support and instruction to students in their content area with the goal of recovering credits to facilitate timely graduation. Teaching positions are based upon enrollment and funding. Teachers with ESL endorsements are preferred. A minimum of 10 students is required to run a course.

- Current/valid RI Teacher Certificate in the appropriate subject areas 7-12 (RIDE Requirements)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education from an accredited teacher education program
- Prior experience supporting students in a classroom and in a tutor/mentor style relationship ensuring students successfully attain mastery to recover content credits
- Ability to differentiate and scaffold instruction to support and accelerate learning
- An asset‑based view of diverse cultures and a belief in growth mindset
- Excellent organizational and communication skills: track and support students in multiple modes of learning
- Hosting and setting expectations for daily virtual and in‑seat instruction
- Monitoring Edgenuity progress, providing individualized support, direct instruction, and setting goals
- Supporting students with content area instruction
- Hosting in‑person check‑in meetings with students in virtual learning options
- Referring students to Community Specialists and counselors to make outreach calls or home visits for attendance
- Providing whole group, small group, and individual instruction based on student credit recovery needs; administering and interpreting educational assessments
- Implementing a range of effective instructional strategies and classroom interventions
- Promoting an environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students
- Participating fully in a professional community including common planning, professional development, and self‑reflection/evaluation
- Supervising students in a range of settings; protecting and promoting the safety and well‑being of students, colleagues, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Communicating and interacting appropriately and professionally with students, colleagues, parents and the community to promote intellectual, physical, social, and emotional student learning
- Continuously developing and evolving teaching practice and supporting colleagues in their development
- Maintaining daily and weekly grades and attendance records; must commit to working all days of the program
