Program Dates: Mon-Thurs July 6-30, 2026
Data Day: July 31, 2026
Hours: 8:15am-12:45pm
Pay: $40 per hour (contingent upon enrollment and funding)
Job Type: Part-time
Under direction of the school principal and/or appropriate supervisor, the special educator will instruct students currently enrolled in 180-day Special Education classes who require reinforcement in language and social skills, consistent with the Extended School Year (ESY) services component for students’ Individual Educational Program (IEP).
Education, Training and ExperienceRIDE Requirements:
- Sp. Ed. PK-12 Severe Profound or
- All Grades Sp. Ed.
- Severe Intellectual Disability Grades PK-12

Minimum Qualifications Standards- Knowledge and experience working with students with moderate/severe disabilities including successful experience with students who have Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or students exhibiting behavioral/emotional issues
- Extensive coursework in the area of special education of the severe/profound disabled including students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Knowledge of community resources and wrap‑around services for students with mild to severe disabilities
- Knowledge of current research and trends on educating students with mild to severe disabilities
- Monitor daily student attendance and implement proactive strategies to increase student attendance at ESY.
- Collect, complete, and analyze data collected during ESY both as written documentation and also input into the Power School platform.
- Implement school-to-home strategies to maintain consistent attendance at the ESY program.
- Implement effective teaching strategies for students with moderate/severe disabilities, including techniques and assistive technology for Pervasive Developmental Delay (PDD)/PECS and severe behavioral/emotional disability.
- Implement the unique curriculum in all areas of instruction at the elementary school level for students with severe to profound academic delays.
- Coordinate life‑skills activities and teaching strategies with teacher assistants and any support and related service personnel consistent with their IEP.
- Coordinate a parent component and work with families of students enrolled in this program for effective carry‑over of activities from school to home.
- Coordinate with appropriate community agencies to provide appropriate social activities for students enrolled in this program.
- Implement all activities related to self‑care skills which may include diapering and feeding of students.
- Any/all duties assigned by the Director of Special Populations.
