Job DescriptionPosition Overview:
The Curriculum, Instruction, and Career Pathways Director provides strategic leadership for curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional learning, career pathways, Career and Technical Education (CTE), real‑world learning, school improvement, accountability systems, and grant‑funded initiatives across The Met's schools. The Director ensures alignment with Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) requirements while advancing The Met's mission of personalized, competency‑based, and real‑world learning. The Director works collaboratively with principals, advisors, Real‑World Learning staff, student support personnel, students, families, and community partners to strengthen instructional quality, student outcomes, college and career readiness, and organizational effectiveness.
Responsibilities
Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Leadership
Lead the development, implementation, review, and continuous improvement of curriculum across all Met schools. Ensure alignment with Rhode Island standards, graduation requirements, and competency‑based learning expectations. Support interdisciplinary, project‑based, and personalized learning experiences that reflect The Met’s educational design. Coordinate annual curriculum review and curriculum verification processes required by RIDE. Manage implementation of graduation requirements and pathway options, including communication and planning processes for students and families.
Maintain and update course catalogs, transcript language, curriculum documentation, graduation policies, and academic program materials. Support implementation of graduation requirements, including numeracy, science, civics, financial literacy, world language, and other state‑mandated academic requirements. Coordinate online and alternative learning opportunities that expand access to graduation requirements and personalized learning pathways. Collaborate with Postsecondary Access Counselors (PACs), school leaders, and student support staff to ensure effective implementation of postsecondary planning initiatives.
Analyze student achievement, engagement, and assessment data to inform instructional improvement efforts. Facilitate instructional coherence while preserving advisor autonomy and personalization.
Competency‑Based Learning and Assessment Systems
Oversee systems related to proficiency‑based learning, exhibitions, portfolios, rubrics, etc. Support calibration and consistency of assessment practices across schools. Monitor progress toward graduation competencies and postsecondary readiness outcomes. Coordinate updates to transcript language, graduation pathway documentation, and related student records. Coordinate development and maintenance of competency‑based reporting systems and practices. Support continuous improvement of project‑based and authentic assessment structures.
Professional Learning and Leadership Development
Design, coordinate, and evaluate systemwide professional learning aligned with organizational priorities. Collaborate on professional development related to competency‑based education, project‑based learning, literacy, culturally responsive teaching, assessment, and instructional best practices. Support Rookie Camp, Looper Day, new advisor onboarding, grade‑level meetings, principal professional learning, and ongoing staff development initiatives. Support leadership development opportunities for principals and instructional leaders. Facilitate instructional coaching structures and collaborative inquiry processes.
Support educator growth, instructional improvement, and implementation of organizational priorities.
Career Pathways, Career and Technical Education, and Real‑World Learning
Serve as The Met’s CTE Director and primary liaison to RIDE, RIACTE, SkillsUSA, and related organizations. Lead implementation, expansion, and continuous improvement of innovative career pathways and Career and Technical Education programs. Manage…
