The ideal candidate for this position has a deep passion for their field and is eager to gain rigorous development to help perfect their craft. The Occupational Therapist supports the school environment to ensure that students have the emotional support they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

Occupational Therapists collaborate and partner with students, parents, and members of the school staff. The position reports directly to X at the network level and works in collaboration with school leaders at their designated schools to provide there area of expertise.

• Service Delivery: 70%
• Provide targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate student participation and occupational performance within the school environment
• Develop occupationally based intervention plans based on student needs and evaluation results
• Conduct occupational evaluations
• Stakeholder Management: 20%
• Participate in case conferences to discuss student goals and plans
• Collaborate with the student support services team to ensure understanding of student occupational performance strengths and needs through evaluation, educational program planning, and service delivery
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations, and develop individualized education plans and intervention plans to achieve IEP goals
• Provide continuing education and in-service training for educational personnel, parents, and community based service providers
• Serve as a full-time and engaged member of Achievement First staff, including attending teacher/staff meetings, accompanying students on field lessons, assisting with student recruitment and enrichment activities, and working with other staff members to ensure fulfillment of Achievement First mission.
• School and Community Support: 10%
• Implement the school-wide student management policies within classrooms and everywhere on campus
• Exhibit positive rapport with students
• Create and foster a positive learning environment
• Establish and maintain strong communication lines with all parents
• Be available for Open Houses, Parent-Teacher Conferences and other events involving parents outside of normal operating hours

• Bachelor's degree (required)
• Successfully completed and graduated from an accredited occupational therapy professional program recognized by NBCOT and completed all fieldwork requirements (required)
• Two years of experience as an occupational therapist, preferably in a school system or other pediatric practice setting (preferred)
• Commitment to working with limited access to quality educational opportunities (required)
• Experience working in a public school (preferred)
• Experience working in an urban school (preferred)
• Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work as a member of a team
• A deep commitment to develop and contribute to a community of educators
