Providence Public Schools District (PPSD) seeks an exceptional Middle School Special Education (SPED) and English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher who is highly qualified and skillful to join our community of teachers, students, and stakeholders. This position requires Structured Literacy Proficiency Level within one year of hire, as mandated by the Rhode Island Right to Read Act.

• Provide daily instruction based on RI State Standards, Providence School District Curriculum, and students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Implement, develop, and case‑manage students’ services and IEPs in accordance with State and Federal Regulations.
• Work collaboratively with general education teachers and paraprofessionals using the co‑teaching model to create the least restrictive environment.
• Develop and implement IEPs, behavioral intervention plans, and alternative assessments consistent with RIDE regulations.
• Complete quarterly progress reports, schedule and case‑manage three‑year re‑evaluations, and report progress monitoring data for all student goals.
• Integrate technology into instruction and provide individual and group interventions within the Response to Intervention Process.
• Maintain a safe, positive classroom environment, implement a discipline plan, and utilize positive behavioral supports.
• Participate in district and school‑based professional development activities.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in the applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.
• RIDE certification:
  One of the following—Elementary Special Education Teacher, Grades KG‑6;
  Middle Grades Special Education Teacher, Grades 5‑8; or Secondary Grades Special Education Teacher, Grades 6‑12—combined with certification as All Grades English to Speakers of Other Languages, Grades PK‑12.
• Structured Literacy proficiency required within one year of hire.
• Citizen, resident or work visa required.
• Experience working with diverse learners and commitment to equitable instruction.
