Summer Early Childhood Special Education - Evaluation Team – Substitutes
Starting Date: Immediately
Dates: July 6, 2026 – August 20, 2026
Days: Monday – Friday, 8:15 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. (
Note: No work on August 10th – Holiday)
Location: Pre‑K Office, Providence, Rhode Island
Rate: $40.00 per hour (contingent upon funding)
Job Description: Under the direction of the Director of Early Childhood and Chief of Student Support Services, the substitute will complete child‑development evaluations, hold evaluation team meetings, write Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and their goals, present findings, and update Skyward/Power School. The person will be required to work when the regular employee is absent.
Education, Training & Experience- Experience working on the Early Childhood District Evaluation Team
- Ability to case‑manage cases and follow district procedures
- Training in RIELDS and COS processes
- Experience writing IEPs at the PK level
- Working knowledge of Skyward and Power School for documentation of evaluations, eligibility, and IEP placements
- Current Rhode Island Teacher Certificate in an appropriate subject area (PK‑12 Social Worker, ECH SPED, PK‑12 SLP, PK‑12 psychologist)
- ESL Preferred
Duties & Responsibilities
- Complete required case management and documentation of services for Medicaid purposes
- Work as a team to determine testing and meeting needs, and focus on completion of pre‑kindergarten cases
- Conduct file reviews to ensure appropriate permissions for evaluations have been obtained
- Contact parents (phone calls and letters) to schedule evaluation sessions and document all attempts and results of contact
- Complete formalized testing in areas of certification and write corresponding evaluations
- Write IEPs, IEP goals, and hold related meetings
- Provide documentation required for eligibility, including prior written notice of eligibility
- Submit weekly timesheets, activity logs, and completed files
- Input all necessary documentation in Skyward and Power School
- Perform any duties assigned by the Manager of Special Education and Services and/or Executive Director of Special Education
- Good communication and human relations skills
- Experience working on the Early Childhood District Evaluation Team (preferred)
- Ability to formulate concise reports and maintain complete longitudinal records for each student served
- Proficiency with PC‑based computer applications (Microsoft Office, email, web applications, and industry‑specific technology)
