Job DescriptionTAPA, an academically rigorous public charter school for the arts, seeks a Middle School Math Teacher. The ideal candidate recognizes and celebrates the connections between math and the arts and brings a thoughtful, student‑centered approach to teaching and learning.

The Middle School Math Teacher will teach four classes, each with approximately 20 students, and will lead an Advisory for a smaller group of middle‑school students. The Advisory provides a platform for social‑emotional learning and support, and encourages a lasting advisor‑advisee relationship throughout the middle‑school years.
Math instruction is delivered through a blended learning model that integrates Imagine Learning Classroom, arts‑integration, and the green‑standard Illustrative Math curriculum. The goal is to meet or exceed Rhode Island’s graduation requirements and to support each student’s individual academic needs using assessment data and continuous feedback.
Responsibilities- Teach four middle‑school math classes (≈20 students each).
- Lead an Advisory group for social‑emotional learning and student support.
- Create and implement blended learning lessons using Imagine Learning, arts‑integration, and Illustrative Math.
- Assess student progress and provide continuous feedback to meet individual needs.
- Integrate curriculum across the arts and math disciplines.
- Participate in a student‑centered, responsive framework for math instruction.
- Required:
- Rhode Island teaching certification or ability to obtain an emergency certification.
- Experience and knowledge of a math curriculum.
- Commitment to urban education.
- Experience in a student‑centered, responsive classroom.
- Ability to integrate arts and mathematics.
- Knowledge of modifying curriculum for multilingual learners and differently‑abled learners.
- Knowledge of using Chromebooks in a 1:1 setting.
- Proficiency in conversational Spanish (preferred).
- Preferred:
- At least one year in an urban school setting.
- Experience supporting inclusive learning environments.
- Interest in equitable access to education, student empowerment, or social‑emotional learning initiatives.
- Understanding of relationship‑based teaching approaches.
- Participation in the Rhode Island arts community.
- At least one year of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
