Job SummaryThe Classroom Teacher is responsible for creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment where all students can achieve academic success. The teacher implements effective lesson plans from the assigned curriculum, manages the classroom, and assesses student progress. The teacher collaborates with colleagues, parents, and the school community to support the holistic development of students.
Responsibilities- Instructional planning and delivery
- Implement lessons that align with state standards and use High Quality Instructional Materials.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs and learning styles.
- Integrate technology and other resources to enhance instruction and student engagement.
- Assessment and evaluation
- Conduct formative and summative assessments to monitor student learning and progress.
- Use assessment data to inform instruction and provide feedback to students and parents.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress regularly.
- Classroom management
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect and responsibility.
- Establish and enforce clear rules and procedures for behavior and routine.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to minimize disruptions.
- Collaboration and communication
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to plan and implement grade-level, interdisciplinary, or school-wide units.
- Participate in professional learning communities and ongoing professional development.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to support student learning.
- Student support and engagement
- Provide individualized support and differentiation for all students, including those with special needs and English language learners.
- Encourage student participation and foster a growth mindset.
- Promote social-emotional learning and positive relationships among students.
- Professional responsibilities
- Adhere to school policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
- Participate in school events, parent-teacher conferences, and other activities outside regular school hours as needed.
- Continuously seek opportunities for professional growth and improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
- Valid Rhode Island teaching certification for the appropriate grade level.
- Strong knowledge of subject matter and state curriculum standards.
- Effective classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive learning environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using technology for instruction and assessment.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
- Right to Read training and a current background check with fingerprints.
- At least one year of relevant experience preferred.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
