Job Description

La Salle Academy is a Catholic, coeducational, college preparatory school, sponsored by the Brothers of the Christian Schools (the De La Salle Christian Brothers) offering a comprehensive curriculum. Founded in 1871 and located in the heart of Providence, La Salle Academy serves a student body of 1560 students in grades 6 through 12. La Salle Academy is seeking a dynamic and well‑rounded science educator to join our Science department. The primary responsibility for the position is teaching Chemistry
, with opportunities to instruct at all levels of Chemistry from College Prep through Advanced Placement, and other science‑related subjects based on expertise and student interest.

We are looking for passionate educators who can engage students in inquiry‑based learning, foster scientific curiosity, and contribute to a collaborative academic environment. Educators from any science background are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
  • Teach Chemistry to high school students following state and national standards.
  • Have the ability to teach at all levels of Chemistry, from College Prep to the Advanced Placement Level.
  • Develop engaging lesson plans that incorporate hands‑on labs, critical thinking, and real‑world applications.
  • Utilize technology and innovative teaching strategies to enhance student learning.
  • Assess and support student progress through differentiated instruction.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum and contribute to the science department.
  • Participate in school activities, professional development, and extracurricular programs as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Chemistry, Education, or a related field.
  • Strong background in Chemistry or general science.
  • Field experience in related fields will be considered.
  • Teaching experience in other science subjects or disciplines preferred.
  • Experience in hands‑on, inquiry‑based science instruction preferred.
  • Effective classroom management and communication skills.
  • Passion for fostering student engagement and scientific inquiry.
