TAPA:
Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts, an academically rigorous public charter school for the arts, seeks a full-time Behavior Support Teaching Assistant or Paraprofessional to support students in grades 5–12. Working under the direction of TAPA's School Culture Coordinator, this position is ideal for someone who builds strong relationships with young people, remains calm during challenging situations, and can combine warmth and patience with clear, consistent expectations.

The Behavior Support TA will maintain a visible and supportive presence throughout the school day, including during arrival, transitions, lunch, dismissal, and other less-structured settings. They will provide targeted support to individual students and small groups, assist with de-escalation and restorative responses, help students return successfully to class following conflict or behavioral concerns, and support a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment across the school.

Full-time Salary: $15 to $25 Per Hour

Key Responsibilities:

• Student Behavior and Relationship Support:
• Build consistent, trusting relationships with students across grades 5–12
• Reinforce school wide expectations through proactive, respectful, and developmentally appropriate interventions
• Provide individual and small-group support to students experiencing behavioral, social, or emotional challenges
• Assist with de-escalation, conflict resolution, restorative conversations, and peer mediation
• Help students regulate emotions, repair harm, and return successfully to class following conflict or behavioral concerns
• Maintain student dignity while holding clear and consistent boundaries
• School Culture, Supervision, and Coverage:
• Maintain a visible and active presence during arrival, dismissal, passing periods, lunch, and other less-structured portions of the school day
• Provide supervision and behavior support in classrooms and common areas as assigned
• Respond promptly when staff members request assistance with student behavior
• Help prevent conflicts from escalating through early intervention and relationship-based support
• Support school wide culture initiatives, assemblies, community meetings, celebrations, and student activities
• Provide classroom coverage or additional supervision when needed
• Collaboration and Documentation:
• Work closely with the School Culture Coordinator, teachers, social workers, special educators, and other members of the student-support team
• Follow established behavior plans, safety plans, accommodations, and student-support procedures
• Communicate relevant information clearly and promptly to the School Culture Coordinator and appropriate staff members
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student interventions, incidents, and follow-up actions
• Participate in student-support meetings, professional development, and school culture planning as assigned
