This position is a Middle School Special Education Teacher (Grades 6–8) in a K–8 model school that include academic and social-emotional responsibilities. This will be located at the PVD Highlander campus. Deliver high-quality 1:1 and small group instruction tailored to students' Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals. Focus on foundational skill development in ELA and Math, utilizing evidence-based strategies to support student access to grade-level content.
Adapt and modify classroom assignments to meet the specific learning needs and accommodations of each student. Implement proactive and positive behavior interventions to maintain a productive and safe learning environment. Collaborate on the development and monitoring of student behavior plans to support social-emotional growth. Apply appropriate behavior management techniques that foster student self-regulation and engagement. Partner closely with General Education teachers to ensure the effective implementation of classroom accommodations and modifications.
Work within a resource model, coordinating with paraprofessionals and support staff to provide seamless services within both the resource center and general education classrooms. Communicate regularly with families, related service providers, and administrators to share insights regarding student development. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, progress toward IEP objectives, and behavior data. Ensure all special education services are delivered in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements (IDEA).
Lead or participate in IEP meetings, providing comprehensive student summaries and data-driven recommendations for future programming.

Full-time Salary: $47,690 to $77,943 Per Year

Valid Rhode Island Special Education certification for the middle school level is required. Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's preferred). Proven experience working with students with disabilities, particularly in a middle school setting, with a strong background in behavior management and instructional differentiation. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

At least 3 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
Bachelor degree preferred.
