Position Overview:

The combined role of Special Education Teacher and Services Coordinator at The Met involves providing specialized instruction to students according to their Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and performing various administrative, clerical, and computer-based information management tasks. This full-time role is designed to ensure equitable service delivery throughout the Providence Campus and supports the Director of Special Education Services, school staff, students, and parents.

This position reports to the Director of Special Education and the School Principal.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Special Education Teacher Responsibilities (1.0 FTE) Manage a caseload of up to 22 students Conduct case management Meet weekly with the Building Principal and monthly with the Director of Special Education and Building Principal for caseload reviews. Coordinate service delivery with the multidisciplinary team. Track dates and coordinate meetings for IEPs and 504 plans with all stakeholders. Maintain compliance with IEP requirements and develop student IEPs within the RIDE-mandated time frame.

Develop and update 504 plans as indicated. Complete all Medicaid paperwork, including annual case management plans and monthly logs. Comply with all documentation as mandated by The Met, RIDE, and IDEA. Complete educational evaluations and report findings/recommendations to the Focused Intervention Team, which includes the student, and family. Help train advisors in intervention strategies and consult with the RtI/PST process.

Generate trimester IEP progress reports for each assigned student. Meet and document mandated contact hours with assigned students. Coordinate the development of a post-Met transition plan. Make student referrals to ORS/BHDDH as appropriate. Maintain all required paperwork for student files (Medicaid documentation, trimester reports, IEPs, IDEA-mandated documents, Summary of Student Performance). Participate in the RI Educator Evaluation System and/or Met Educator Evaluation System.

Participate in periodic observations from the Special Education Director or Building Principal. Collaborate with team members to share resources and provide PD to staff as needed.
