Job Description

Providence Public Schools District (PPSD) seeks an exceptional Supervisor of Principal Support who is highly qualified and skillful to join our community of teachers, students and stakeholders.

We serve approximately 22,000 students at 37 elementary, middle, and high schools. Approximately 55% of students come from homes where English is not the primary language spoken. Combined, our students and families speak over 75 different languages and hail from 91 countries of origin.

REPORTS TO:

Principal Supervisor & Executive Director of Professional Development and Principal Support

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Supervisor of Principal Support will work closely with the Principal Supervisor & Executive Director of Professional Development and Principal Support to advance PPSD’s leadership development and professional learning priorities. The role will assist in the design, coordination, and implementation of high-quality professional learning, tools, and resources for school leaders, educators, and staff; provide responsive, just-in-time support to school leaders; and identify emerging needs to inform targeted professional learning, resources, and supports.

The Supervisor will also contribute to the planning and implementation of district wide professional development and collaborate with Teaching and Learning and other central office teams to ensure professional learning is aligned with district priorities and responsive to the needs of schools and staff.

EDUCATION TRAINING AND

EXPERIENCE:

Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Educational Administration, or a closely related field from an accredited institution required.

CERTIFICATE / LICENSE

REQUIRED:

Rhode Island Building Level Administrator PK–12 Certificate

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND CURRICULAR LINKAGES:

Professional Development, Tools, and Resource Development
  • Supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of district wide professional development for school leaders, educators, and other staff aligned with district priorities and identified needs.
  • Coordinates and facilitates professional development workshops, institutes, and district wide professional learning days, as assigned.
  • Develops and refines tools, templates, protocols, training materials, and other resources to support school leaders, educators, and staff in implementing district priorities and strengthening professional practice.
  • Supports professional development systems and processes, including course setup, registration, attendance, professional learning credit documentation, data entry, and maintenance of accurate professional development records within the district's learning management system.
  • Provides technical assistance to school leaders, educators, and staff related to professional development systems and platforms.
  • Analyzes professional development participation data and feedback to inform future learning opportunities and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborates with Teaching and Learning and other district departments to ensure professional development is coherent, aligned with district instructional priorities, and responsive to the needs of schools and staff.
