Overview
WSP is a leading engineering firm serving clients in New England. Our construction management and inspection teams have overseen major projects including Connecticut interstate interchanges and the Rhode Island East Side Transit Tunnel.
Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Construction Inspector to oversee road, bridge, or related construction projects ranging from $1 million to $50 million. This position may be based in Providence, RI or Glastonbury, CT.
Responsibilities- Interface with contractor supervisors to determine and monitor daily work.
- Perform field measurements and calculations for unit price item quantities.
- Complete daily work reports in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Coordinate independent material sampling and testing, or perform testing as required.
- Monitor maintenance of traffic.
- Take and compile photographs of work activities to track daily progress.
- Keep the Chief Inspector and/or Resident Engineer informed on all construction activities.
- Work in highway and construction environments year‑round, with potential for days, nights, and weekends.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
- High School Diploma.
- Minimum 3 years of construction inspection experience.
- Strong oral and written technical communication skills.
- Ability to learn how to read plans and specifications, or the aptitude to learn.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or related field.
- Engineer‑In‑Training certification.
- NICET HCI Level II certification.
- ACI, NETTCP certification, or ability to attain within 3 months of hiring.
- Hands‑on experience with construction management software such as AASHTOWare Project, Headlight, Procore, or similar systems.
- Knowledge of Bluebeam.
