Project Manager- Wastewater

Apex Companies, a leading engineering and environmental consulting firm in New England, is seeking a Project Manager to lead wastewater engineering projects across Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Connecticut. The role is hybrid, with travel to client sites.

• Manage project implementation with the assigned project team and follow all company policies and operating procedures.
• Keep the client informed of project status and provide management, advice, and support to team members.
• Initiate projects by developing proposals, scopes of work, and project budgets for approval by the Principal.
• Complete project initiation documents that include detailed scope, budget, and schedule.
• Supervise and direct technical staff, providing training seminars, guidance during execution, and bringing new technical developments in-house.
• Consult with other technical staff and Project Managers on wastewater challenges and provide independent technical reviews.
• Ensure technical accuracy through regular communications, review of plans, specifications, reports, and calculations.
• Track all project costs, including labor and expenses, and ensure invoices are issued to the client in a timely manner in accordance with company policy.
• Other tasks may include proposal preparation, participating in project interviews, attending public meetings, developing fee proposals, preparing contracts, and presenting information to new and future clients.

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering with 9 years of related experience with increasing responsibility, or a master’s degree with 8 years of related experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer or other relevant professional registration in relevant state(s) (or ability to obtain).
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with clients, staff, subconsultants, and contractors through effective leadership.
• Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
• Strong understanding of state and federal regulatory framework and experience interacting with regulators in the local and technical areas where Apex does work.
• Valid driver’s license.
