Overview
At Jacobs, we’re challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world’s most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission‑critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery, and cutting‑edge manufacturing. We transform abstract ideas into realities that make the world a better place.
Your impactIf you are ready to bridge the gap between our world and our people, join Jacobs. As a Structural Engineer / Inspection Team Leader, you’ll be a vital member of our New England team, leading bridge and tunnel inspection contracts with clients such as MassDOT, RIDOT, CTDOT, and VTrans.
You’ll perform inspections per NBIS and NTIS standards, schedule traffic closures, coordinate the rental of inspection equipment, and liaise with DOT personnel for bridge access. You’ll assist in completing, checking, and submitting bridge inspection reports, and report audit‑quality results to the respective DOTs.
In the New England region, team leaders can also assist in bridge design and rehabilitation projects—performing design calculations, estimates, and specifications, as well as bridge rating calculations and reports. Tunnel assignments involve routine and special member inspections in DOT tunnels. You’ll lead teams, identify action items, help schedule inspections (traffic closures, equipment rentals), and prepare tunnel inspection reports and quantity estimates.
Tunnel inspectors may also work on repair or rehabilitation contracts, performing field work to identify defects, generate repair recommendations, and prepare design documents for the recommended work.
