Responsibilities
  • Carry out all policies and procedures established by the Governing Board in accordance with the hospital’s philosophy and practices.
  • Present periodic reports to the Governing Board or its authorized committees reflecting the financial activities of the hospital.
  • Plan, organize and influence department activities, ensuring financial records are maintained following generally accepted accounting standards.
  • Prepare an annual operating capital expenditure and cash flow budget, including required information, and submit budgets for approval.
  • Supervise financial affairs to ensure funds are collected and expended in the best possible advantage and within the provision of the annual budgets.
  • Set realistic goals and meet those goals through criteria that measure effective outcomes, focus, and drive.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, being willing to make changes in work schedule and assignments to meet changing demands or priorities.
  • Employ analytical abilities, pragmatism, and other tools to resolve complex problems in a variety of contexts.
  • Identify problems and possible solutions; contribute to organizational performance improvement.
  • Maintain the ability to connect processes, events, and systems, demonstrating a balance between process orientation and big‑picture thinking.
  • Identify with and share in the organization’s commitment to mission, philosophy, and goals.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Finance or a closely related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of Health Care Accounting practices and principles.
  • Progressively responsible position in the Accounting profession.
  • Five to seven years experience in hospital accounting/finance required; two years in management preferred.
  • Experience managing hospital financial issues related to budgeting, cash management, capital finance, and performance evaluations.
  • Proficiency with end‑to‑end hospital revenue cycle operations.
  • In‑depth knowledge of insurance matters, regulations, reimbursement, information systems, and plant operations.
  • Familiarity with computer accounting programs.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Membership and active participation in ACHE and/or other professional organization preferred.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $ to $ annually. The exact starting compensation will be determined at hiring time, based on factors such as skillset, experience, education, credentials and licensure.
