Controller

Location: Providence, RI
Salary: $125,000–$150,000 base + benefits and bonus potential
hybrid work schedule - 3 days/week in office

This is a high-impact Controller role with a mission-driven nonprofit organization. The position serves as the senior accounting leader, partnering closely with leadership and program teams. It offers meaningful ownership of financial operations, visibility across the organization, and the opportunity to strengthen systems, reporting, and controls in support of long-term sustainability.

• Lead all accounting and financial operations, including the general ledger and monthly/year-end close
• Prepare and present accurate financial reports for leadership, funders, and stakeholders
• Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and program-level financial planning
• Oversee compliance with GAAP and federal/state regulations, including audits and Form 990
• Manage, mentor, and develop finance staff while improving processes and controls

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (MBA/CPA preferred)
• Strong nonprofit accounting and compliance experience
• Proven ability to lead close processes and manage a finance team
• Clear communicator with a hands-on, practical leadership style
