Schedule: Approximately 16–24 hours per week
Reports To: Finance Director / Principal
Position SummaryTraverse Landscape Architects is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Assistant Finance Director to support the firm’s financial operations and accounting systems. This part-time role will assist with financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, project accounting, and day-to-day accounting operations while helping maintain the overall financial health and efficiency of the practice.
The ideal candidate is proactive, analytical, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a small professional design firm environment.
Key Responsibilities- Support daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance
- Assist with preparation of monthly and annual financial reports, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Maintain accounting procedures, internal controls, and organized financial records
- Coordinate with outside accountants, consultants, and tax professionals
- Review consultant invoices, project accounting, and expense reporting
- Assist leadership with financial analysis, reporting, and operational planning
- Support year-end tax preparation
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company procedures
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 3–5 years of accounting, finance, or bookkeeping experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Experience with Quick Books Online and Microsoft Excel required
- Experience in professional services, design, or small business environments preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
