Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director, RN Education, the Clinical Program Manager, RN Informatics serves as a system‑level leader responsible for advancing nursing informatics across Brown University Health. This role provides strategic insight into the design, optimization, and integration of informatics solutions that enhance clinical workflows, strengthen data integrity, and improve patient‑care outcomes. By integrating clinical expertise with informatics principles, this role ensures alignment with organizational priorities, evidence‑based practice, and the effective use of health information technology (HIT) to support high‑quality patient care.

By partnering with HR, the Clinical Program Manager leads system‑level governance and supervision of the Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring its accuracy, usability, and alignment with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational education requirements. The position maintains a reliable, user‑friendly LMS environment, supports nursing assignments and analytics, and streamlines system‑wide education processes. As a key member of the leadership team, the Clinical Program Manager applies evidence‑based practice, adult learning principles, and data‑driven insight to advance nursing excellence, promote Brown University Health’s mission of “Delivering health with care,” and guide actions that support Brown University Health’s values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.

Duties And Responsibilities

Informatics Leadership & Professional Practice Integration
  • Lead nursing implementation and optimization of clinical information systems to support safe, efficient, and high‑quality patient care.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on clinical workflows, documentation standards, and evidence‑based informatics practices.
  • Partner with clinical, operational, and IT leaders to ensure technology solutions support nursing professional practice standards.
LMS Governance & Technology‑Enabled Education
  • In partnership with HR provide oversight of the Learning Management System (LMS) for nursing and clinical departments, including structure, content governance, reporting, and analytics.
  • Collaborate with educators and subject matter experts to develop system‑wide workflows for course creation, competency tracking, and staff assignment logic.
  • Integrate simulation, e‑learning, and digital tools to enhance learning experiences and meet diverse learner needs.
  • Ensure onboarding, annual training, competency assessments, and continuing education are technically supported and aligned with regulatory requirements.
  • Use data from the LMS and other platforms to measure engagement, learning outcomes, and compliance readiness.
Regulatory Compliance & Data Analytics
  • Ensure informatics workflows and documentation standards meet all regulatory and accreditation requirements, including CMS, Joint Commission, and state‑level mandates.
  • Maintain documentation and prepare audit‑ready reports for internal and external regulatory reviews.
  • Use data to evaluate the impact of informatics initiatives on clinical outcomes, user adoption, documentation quality, and system performance.
Collaboration & System Integration
  • Serve as a liaison between the System Director, facility leadership, IT teams, clinical leaders, and interdisciplinary partners.
  • Lead system‑wide committees, user groups, and project teams related to clinical technology and informatics.
  • Coordinate resources and best practices across facilities to ensure consistency, scalability, and standardization.
  • Support transitions associated with major upgrades, new system implementations, and EMR optimization initiatives.
Professional Development & Engagement
  • Develop programs and tools that enhance clinical staff proficiency in informatics systems and documentation best practices.
