Job Summary

The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) serves as Co-Chair of the Women & Infants Hospital Antimicrobial Stewardship Program. The Pharmacy Specialist ASP works with the Infectious Disease Physicians, Clinical Microbiologists, Infection Prevention Practitioners, Hospital Epidemiologist and Obstetric Medicine to enhance antimicrobial stewardship, an activity that includes appropriate selection, dosing, route, and duration of antimicrobial therapy. The successful candidate will also provide clinical support to the Department of Medicine as a member of the Infectious Disease section, provide education and support to patients and caretakers and staff, and perform other job-related duties as requested.

Requirements
  • Bachelors Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy (required).
  • Registered Pharmacist in the State of Rhode Island or eligible for state licensure.
  • Successful completion of Post Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) in Pharmacy Practice or Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy (BCPS) (required).
  • Post Graduate Year 2 (PGY2) in Infectious Disease Pharmacotherapy (preferred).
  • Advanced certification in Antimicrobial Stewardship (SIDP/MAD-) (required).
  • Board certification or board eligible in Infectious Disease (BCIDP) (preferred).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise of pharmacotherapy in Infectious Disease and minimum two years’ experience in Antimicrobial Stewardship Program management (required).
