Job Summary
High School graduate or equivalent with previous phlebotomy experience in the healthcare field preferred. All employees hired during or after 2010 must have a phlebotomy certificate. Pleasant phone manner, strong interpersonal skills, fluency in English, and ability to accurately relate technical information are essential. Experience is preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities- Demonstrates competency, individually and as part of a multidisciplinary team, in performing clinical care and assessment of all patient populations.
- Performs venipunctures and skin punctures on inpatients and outpatients to obtain blood specimens.
- Performs various screening tests and maintains record‑keeping associated with phlebotomy; reports results.
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures and follows hospital safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Performs clerical functions associated with the testing area.
- Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
- Acquires electrocardiograms.
- Participates in educational programs and in‑service meetings.
- Preserves and protects patient rights to confidentiality at all times.
